Jet pumps are electrically powered water pumps, and are often found in commercial and residential applications. Most commonly, jet pump motors are used for swimming pool, spa, shallow well, irrigation, circulating, transfer, sprinkler, fluid handling, processing, and treatment pumps.
In a centrifugal pump system, the electric motor is the device that turns electrical energy into mechanical energy; and the pump is the mechanical device used to move fluids through suction or pressure. The connecting piece is the impeller, which is a hub with fins. The motor spins the impeller, which moves the fluid through the pump cavity. There are several pieces that can fail, so be sure to check each before replacing the entire unit; the motor, impeller, and pump can be replaced or repaired seperately.
